New York / Manhattan / East Village Meat Market
Julian Baczynsky opened the Ukranian-inspired East Village Meat Market in 1970 to serve the nearby Eastern European community. Fifty years later, the market still provides meats and sausages (and specialties like babka) using Mr. Baczynsky's original recipes. The store is best known for its smoked sausage (kielbasa), prepared fresh — and smoked — daily in its kitchen. Designer Ted Zahn pays tribute with this illustrated portrait of the East Village Meat Market storefront and signage.
