The Green Mill Lounge opened in 1910, its name an homage to Paris' Moulin Rouge ("Red Mill"). The establishment had a colorful early history as a haven for Al Capone and his henchman, one of whom — Jack McGurn — was part owner. The Green Mill became one of the Midwest's iconic destinations for jazz, urban poetry, and the swing revival ... always for the eyes and ears of a wide range of characters.
