Hollywood's Cinerama Dome is a one-of-a-kind marvel of design. It was completed in 1963 in just 16 weeks’ time, to meet the opening night deadline for “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.” The designer was French architect Pierre Cabrol, who had worked with R. Buckminster Fuller, pioneer of the geodesic dome. The signature dome, featuring 316 hexagons, was restored to its original gleam in 2002.
