As a boy growing up just across the border in Wisconsin, Chicago loomed larger than life, like that mysterious, cooler, older kid who lived down the street. Channel 32. Larry Lujack on WLS. The Museum of Science and Industry. Deep dish pizza. Cubs games. Marshall Fields. Marriott's Great America.
40 years later, I still love the city's mix of cosmopolitan gleam with Midwestern approachability. This series of Windy City storefronts is my tribute to the working-class, no-BS, get-it-done mentality that runs through this town. There’s a little bit of everything, from donuts to cameras to bowling to movie shows to beer. That sounds like a pretty good day here actually.
5% of the profits of all Chicago print sales will be donated to GoFundMe's Small Business Relief Fund.
